ZHUZH
Book mobile beauty therapists
Zhuzh is a dual platform app where customers can book beauty therapists for off-site jobs. Zhuzh beauty therapists use the app to manage their availability, bookings and arrival time. The app caters to both customers and beauty therapists.
What problem are we solving?
In a growing culture of ‘delivered right to your door’ and immediacy, Zhuzh is offering a mobile service that is traditionally bound to salons. Drawing upon customer’s appetite to have things come to them, Zhuzh aims to be a front-runner for this in the beauty industry.
Design solutions
A simple, personalised onboarding for beauty therapists who would have applied offline to work for Zhuzh.
Actions and notifications to allow beauty therapists to alert customers to when they are one their way, and when they have arrived.
A straight-forward booking flow that provides the customer with clear indicators as to available therapists for desired time slots.
Workshops & Research
My involvement
I led the design project from initial workshops with the client, through to full high fidelity prototype. Throughout the entire process, I worked closely with the client and product strategist to ensure we were on target and solving the problem at hand.

Research
I researched apps and products that offer ‘to your door’ services in order to understand existing flows and user expectations. Due to financial restrictions, I also brainstormed alternate solutions to GPS tracking to still have a smooth arrival flow for beauty therapists, while avoiding the cost involved in using location settings and live tracking. This resulted in a simplified, manual approach.
Sketches
I mapped out the primary screens, focussing on mobile only rather than doubling up. This stage allowed me to roughly explore booking flows, and to iron out logistics of the product such as having pre-approved grouped offerings (i.e. manicure & pedicure) rather than allowing users to make multiple - possibly unrelated - selections in one booking.
Wireframes
I built out a fully functional wireframe prototype which I then used for user testing and align with my client on features and different use case scenarios. This stage was particularly important in providing customers with their desired options while ensuring Zhuzh could successfully deliver the service. I was also able to clarify how bookings for multiple customers would work through creating components for different desired booking outcomes.

Branding
I established branding that was aligned with the client’s initial vision, while offering some unique alternatives to improve the UI. Building upon the client’s desire for pink, which made sense with the industry, I introduced a grounding primary colour, and used a strong tertiary colour to add contrast, and represent bookings starting soon. These additions to a pink colour story gave Zhuzh a strong, refined brand.
High fidelity prototype
I created a full high fidelity prototype that was circulated for user testing. This final stage helped me ensure the flows made sense and catered to our user’s needs.
